Cost Savings From Energy Efficiency Improvements Sponsored by SimplexGrinnell

Dr. Robert Reed is Co-Director of the MU Center for Sustainable Energy, Director of the MU Stormwater Management and Erosion Control Education Center, and a researcher in the Water Resources Research Center at the University of Missouri. He has more than 40 years experience as an engineer and manager in government, industry, and private business. His work for the MU Energy Center includes serving as an information source on energy related work at the University, and developing teams of experts for various energy projects. He also coordinates the use of the national and international award winning energy management facilities by the academic programs. These facilities include multiple energy source combined heat and power (CHP) energy production and a well advanced operating smart grid, which have yielded an energy reduction worth $4,500,000 per year. Reed makes numerous presentations on MU’s energy work.

Reed has extensive experience in municipal, water, wastewater, and stormwater utilities. His current energy efficiency work includes efficiency in water and wastewater treatment plant design and operations, ‘green’ (energy efficient) construction training coordination, teaching and project monitoring for the MU Pollution Prevention (industrial energy efficiency and waste prevention) Internship for businesses and industries, and large-scale geothermal heating and cooling project development.

Session Description: Participants gain valuable information regarding steps they can take in their facilities to save money while helping sustain the environment. Many “green” choices can provide the added benefit of cost savings. Also, look forward to information about potential funding opportunities and research partnerships you can pursue to make these important decisions.
